Remote monitoring and management (RMM)
The agent software a provider installs on each machine to see its health, push updates and start remote sessions.
RMM is the plumbing behind managed IT. One small agent per machine reports back on disk health, patch status and antivirus state, and lets a technician take the screen with permission rather than talking somebody through a fix over the phone.
It is also the reason remote-only support works at all. Without it, every problem starts with twenty minutes of establishing what the machine is actually doing.
Some providers bill RMM as a line item. That is charging you for their own operating cost: the tool was their choice and it is what makes their delivery model possible.
What it costs
Providers pay roughly $2 to $5 per endpoint per month for RMM. It should be inside your per-seat price, not a separate line.

Should RMM be a separate charge on my invoice?
No. It is the provider's operating cost, chosen by them. A separate line for it is passing through overhead you did not select.
Can the agent watch what I am doing?
Reputable setups require you to approve each remote session and show a visible indicator while it runs. Ask whether unattended access is enabled, because that is the setting that matters.
