Site-to-site VPN
An encrypted permanent tunnel joining two office networks so devices at each site can reach the other directly.
A site-to-site VPN joins networks rather than users. Once it is up, a machine in one office reaches a server or printer in the other as though they were in the same building, with no client software on individual computers.
It is most commonly used for a second office reaching a file server or line-of-business application at the main site. Cloud-first companies increasingly do not need one at all, which is worth checking before paying to build it.
Cost depends almost entirely on what hardware is at each end and whether both sides are yours to configure. Two matching firewalls you control is straightforward; a tunnel into a partner's network you do not control is not.
What it costs
Quoted per tunnel rather than published. Typical small-business setup runs $300 to $1,500 as a project, with ongoing support inside the network add-on.
Related questions
Do we still need a site-to-site VPN if we use cloud apps?
Often not. If nothing lives on a server at either office, the tunnel is solving a problem you no longer have.
Why is there no published price?
Because it depends on the hardware at both ends and whether you control both. Anyone quoting a flat rate before seeing that is guessing.
