The switches, the access points, and the thing in the closet.
Managed network support priced per location: switches, access points, firmware, monitoring and ISP coordination.
Network gear is the part of a small office nobody owns. It was installed by whoever did the fit-out, the firmware has not been touched since, and the admin password is either on a sticker or lost. It works, right up until it does not, and then nobody knows where to start.
The failure that actually costs you a morning is rarely dramatic. An access point drops and half the office blames their laptop. A switch port goes bad and one desk has no internet. The line goes down and somebody spends forty minutes in a queue with the ISP proving it is not their router.
So this covers the gear as a unit, per location: it is monitored, the firmware gets updated deliberately, and when the line drops we are the ones on hold with the provider.
What is covered
An add-on charged per location, on top of the base plan. Priced per site rather than per device, so adding an access point does not add a line.
Included
- Switches, access points and routers monitored for reachability
- Firmware updated deliberately rather than never
- Wi-Fi coverage and interference problems, including the corner of the office that never works
- Guest network and VLAN configuration on existing hardware
- ISP coordination: we open the ticket and sit in the queue, not you
- Documentation of what is installed and how it is configured, in your name
Not included
- New hardware, cabling and installation, which is project work
- Advanced firewall rule work and site-to-site VPN, which is the firewall service
- Anything requiring somebody physically on site, booked per visit
- Circuits and contracts with the ISP, which stay in your name
Questions on this specifically
How much does network support cost for a small business?
A flat charge per location, on top of the per-person base plan. A single-site office of eight people pays eight seats plus one location. The calculator prices it exactly.
Is it per device or per site?
Per site. A location with four access points and two switches costs the same as one with one of each, because the work is the location, not the count.
Do you replace the hardware?
We manage what is there. Buying and installing new gear is project work and it is quoted separately, so it is not something this plan covers. We will tell you plainly when a piece of kit is too old to keep managing rather than quietly keeping it on the invoice.
What happens when the internet goes down?
We confirm whether it is your gear or the line, and if it is the line we open the ticket and sit in the ISP queue. That is usually the part that costs somebody in your office an hour.
